Professional Celebrant

My Story

It’s been my ambition for some time to become a Celebrant. Why you may ask?

Over the years I have suffered loss and bereavement and realise how incredibly important it has been for my family and I to have a kind and compassionate guide during these difficult times. My wish is to provide this for others.

My approach is warm, compassionate and deeply personal. I take time to listen; to understand and I truly will support you and your family during these sad times.

One family I supported recently, kindly wrote –

Your warmth and support was absolutely invaluable. From the moment of the initial call, we had with you we felt calmer and more comfortable that the service would reflect just what we wanted and that you would help us get through it.”

If you are on the other hand looking for someone to support and guide you on the happy occasion of your wedding, renewing of your vows or the naming of your child then I will offer you the same level of commitment on your special day. I will ensure it is a truly memorable, beautiful and joyous occasion.

Frequently Asked Questions

A Civil Celebrant is a professional who creates and leads formal ceremonies. Unlike a registrar or a religious leader, a celebrant has the freedom to create a ceremony that is entirely bespoke, with no legal or religious restrictions on content, music, or location.

For any more questions please get in touch with me.

Can we have religious elements in our ceremony?

Yes, absolutely. One of the main benefits of choosing a celebrant is that you have complete freedom. You can include hymns, prayers, or religious readings alongside secular content, or have no religious elements at all. It is entirely up to you.

Where can the ceremony take place?
Anywhere! Because a celebrant-led ceremony is not the legal act of marriage (which is usually done separately at a registry office), you are not restricted to licensed venues. You can have your ceremony on a beach, in a forest, in your garden, or any venue that is meaningful to you.
How far in advance should I book?
For weddings and naming ceremonies, I recommend booking as soon as you have a date in mind, often 6-12 months in advance. For funerals, the timeline is much shorter, and I usually work directly with your chosen Funeral Director to arrange a date within 1-2 weeks.
Do you help with the legal side of marriage?
I can guide you on the process, but as a Civil Celebrant, I do not have the legal authority to solemnise a marriage. Most couples complete the ‘legalities’ at a registry office (often a simple 10-minute appointment) before or after their bespoke wedding ceremony with me.

Testimonials

Siân, you came across so polite and composed, with a beautiful style and a wonderfully creative way of writing. The structure of your service was perfect, and you guided everyone with care, standing people up and remembering to sit them back down. Your sincerity shone through every word. If you can do that with a sore throat, my goodness, watch this space! It was very special.

We feel so lucky that you were appointed. Your warmth and support through those weeks were absolutely invaluable. From the moment of the initial call, we had with you, we felt calmer and more comfortable that the service would reflect just what we wanted for dad and that you would help us get through it all…

..We will forever be grateful to you for your help, support and friendship and hope that other people are as lucky as us and manage to have you appointed to help them through this tricky process. I know that this is a relatively new path for you, but you are a natural, it is clearly a calling for you to help people in this way.
